Hypnotic Anesthetic
ACTIONS:
Non-barbiturate hypnotic that acts on GABA and depress activity of the RAS of the CNS with minimal cardiovascular and respiratory depressant effect
INDICATIONS:
induction and maintenance of anesthesia to accommodate intubation
CONTRAINDICATION:
Hypersensitivity
Controversial use in septic shock

2 mg/ml
DOSE/ROUTE:
0.3 mg/kg IV

SIDE EFFECTS:
Hypertension or hypotension
Arrhythmias
Apnea or laryngospams

Myoclonic muscle movement
PRECAUTIONS:
May cause cardiac depression in elderly
Long term use can lead to adrenal suppression
