ACTION:
An anticholinergic that blocks the action of acetylcholine at the muscarinic receptors in bronchial smooth muscle causes bronchodilation
Dries respiratory tract secretions
INDICATIONS:
Severe Bronchospasm
CONTRAINDICATION:
Hypersensitivity to peanuts or soy protein
Should not be used as primary acute treatment of bronchospasm
STANDARD PREP:
0.5 mg/2.5 ml (0.02%)
DOSAGE/ROUTE:
0.5 mg via updraft for both adults and peds. (typically administered with a beta agonist)
SIDE EFFECTS:
Palpitations / Tachycardia
Dizziness
Anxiety
Headache
Nervousness
N/V
Cough, Dry Mouth
Transient Increased Bronchospasm
PRECAUTIONS:
Worsening of narrow-angle glaucoma, acute eye pain
Hypotension may occur rarely
